Transgendered man says he was raped in Brazoria County Jail
A Brazoria County jailer has been suspended while authorities investigate the sex abuse allegations

Authorities in Brazoria County, south of Houston, have confirmed they are investigating a transgendered person’s claims that he was raped by a jailer while incarcerated last month on a forgery charge.

Michael Green, who goes by the name Mica and lives his life as a woman, says that from March 20 to 26, he was fondled and forced to have oral and anal sex by a jailer at the Brazoria County Jail in Angleton.

Sheriff Charles Wagner confirmed this week that internal affairs investigators in his department are looking into the claims. He said the jailer has been suspended pending the outcome of that investigation.

Green was jailed in March on a forgery charge. He is also a hostile witness for the state in a case involving transgendered prostitutes being injected with industrial strength silicon to augment their breasts.

Because he is transgendered, Green said, he was confined to an administrative holding cell, away from other prisoners.

On March 20, Green said the jailer came to his cell and fondled him. Green said he was forced to masturbate the jailer. He said that the same thing happened over the next two days.

On March 25, Green said, “He forced me to have oral sex with him.” The next day, Green said, he was forced to have unprotected anal sex with the jailer.

During the time he was in jail, Green said, he was allowed outside his cell for only one hour a day.

Finally, on April 20, Green said he was mistaken for another Michael Green who was also incarcerated in the jail and taken to the visiting area where he approached an administrative clerk and reported the rape.

From that time, Green said, he met with two lieutenants and then with Sheriff Wagner. On April 28, his attorney, Cassandra Jones, got him released on $3,000 bond.

Green said he left jail with evidence that he believes can prove his claims.

“I was smart enough to keep his (the jailer’s) DNA,” Green said “The DNA will speak for itself.”

During the encounter in which he was forced to have oral sex, Green said, he managed to capture the jailer’s semen in a piece of saran wrap he had saved from his lunch tray.

Attorney also arrested
Green turned the evidence over to his attorney. She was arrested Tuesday for failure to turn the evidence over to authorities, but she has since been released. She said Thursday that she turned the evidence over to an outside investigator brought in by the sheriff.

In the meantime, Green, who has two small biological children, said he is finding it difficult to function. He has turned to his friend, Paige Mahogany, who heads C.A.T.S., Creating Awareness for Transgender Support.

“We’re trying to get her needs met,” Mahogany said, “Somebody broke into her apartment while she was in jail, and she has nothing.”

Green, who has had breast augmentation but not sexual reassignment surgery, said the mother of his two children is not able to care for them.

“I’ve been with their mom for over five years,” he said. “I date a girl despite how I look.”

Mahogany said she is also helping Green cope with the trauma of being sexually abused.

“I’ve had to coach her through this,” Mahogany said. “She’s got kids. She can’t commit suicide.”

Green said he is an emotional wreck at times.

“I’m all cried out,” he said. “I was molested as a child. I can’t cry anymore.

In the end, he said, it is the fact that he was helpless to prevent the abuse that bothers him most.

“It was threat by uniform, threat by his position,” Green said. “He told me I better not tell. He said he knew inmates in there,” suggesting that other unscrupulous guards might let them in to beat him up.

Wagner said the jailer would remain on suspension until the investigation is completed.

“Anytime a criminal allegation is made about an employee, they are suspended,” Wagner said. “He’s (Green) made a number of claims, but nothing that we’ve been able to substantiate. Our investigation continues.”
